William's Story
Hi my name is William Spence. I grew up in North Belfast and
like many others was sent to Sunday School and Church, but guess
what, it made no difference to me. I always thought there was
more to life than plodding through it aimlessly. I did believe
in the existence of God so one day I asked Him to show me the
truth. As people always say God works in mysterious ways,
because shoirtly after this I was helping a friend to do
plumbing work to my sister’s house and he invited me over to his
home for tea after we had finished. Later that night as we
relaxed there was a knock on the door and it was Pastor Ed
Bissett who had come to see my friend Harry Patterson and he
invited us both along to a gospel mission they were having at
the Victory Baptist Church.
As the sermon was preached I knew that was what I had been
looking for. I was a lost sinner needing the Lord Jesus to
forgive and cleanse me from sin that I may get to heaven.
Searching for the truth of God is something I would encourage
everyone to do.
After some years down on the Shankill Road, we needed a new
place of worship and the Lord gave us a building in the Braehill
area of Ballysillan.
The church name was changed to Braehill Baptist Church to
associate with the area. The Lord put us there for a reason and
that is to share the good news of the Gospel with the people
around us.
The Lord has blessed me this year and I cannot wait to see what
the future years will bring. The Lord Jesus Christ has promised
that He will return for me and those that love Him who have
trusted in the work of the cross at Calvary. My prayer is that
all in this area may see the saving power of the Saviour who
shed His blood that all could be redeemed by turning to Him
God Blessing
